Dental Implants

Restore your Smile with Dental Implants

In the past, there weren’t many options for replacing a missing tooth or teeth. Usually, replacing a missing tooth or teeth involved wearing a removable prosthesis, or shaving down teeth adjacent to the gap and placing a fixed bridge. Dental implants can now be used to fill in missing tooth space without making modifications to other teeth. If you’re considering dental implants in Turlock, we'd love to discuss your options with you.

Reasons to consider dental implants:

  • Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
  • Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space.
  • Restore your confidence
  • Restore normal chewing, speech, and digestive functions.
  • Restore and strengthen facial structures.
  • Support a bridge or denture to make them secure and comfortable.
  • Replace missing teeth or a single tooth with a stable, permanent solution.

What is a dental implant?

One of the greatest benefits of having a dental implant procedure performed is that it replaces both your missing tooth and the root. A tooth implant can be broken down into three basic components:

  • A model of a cross section of a dental implant procedure.Dental Implant Post – This part of the implant resembles a tiny screw. The post is made of titanium so it can integrate with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration. During the dental implant procedure, the post is first surgically placed, and then the patient is allowed several months to heal. This makes sure the implant is stable before the crown is attached.

  • Abutment – After the implant post has fused with the jawbone, we will attach a custom abutment to the post. The abutment is a small metal cap that connects the crown to the dental implant post.

  • Tooth Restoration – The tooth restoration is the crown that attaches to the post. The restoration is usually made of porcelain and is formed to match the color and shape of your surrounding teeth. If you're missing multiple teeth, you can choose to have an implant-supported dental bridge or dentures instead of multiple implant crowns.

How are dental implant procedures performed?

  1. We will first see you for a dental implant evaluation. During the initial evaluation we will discuss your treatment goals and determine if you’re a good candidate for dental implants. Our staff will provide a breakdown of your dental insurance coverage so you have all the information before you choose to proceed.
  2. If you’re a good candidate for dental implants, we’ll take impressions and digital X-rays and refer you to one of the two oral surgeons we trust for implant placement.
  3. After the dental implant is placed, we use ATLANTIS™ patient-specific CAD/CAM abutments for the final crown placement. We believe ATLANTIS™ patient-specific CAD/CAM abutments provide the highest levels of precision and aesthetics available in implant dentistry.
  4. To complete the dental implant restoration, we work with a local lab that we’ve used for dental implant restorations and dentures ever since our practice was established. Our trusted dental lab can meet custom shades or adjust shades to match your natural teeth.
  5. We will schedule follow-up appointments to ensure everything is healing and functioning properly with your new dental implant.

How much do dental implants cost?

The cost of dental implants depends on several factors, including the number of teeth being replaced and the number of implants required to support your replacement teeth. Additionally, some procedures may be required before the post is placed to ensure the longevity of your dental implants. To obtain a specific estimate, it’s best to start with a consultation.

How do I care for my dental implants?

Dental implants function like normal teeth and must be checked regularly, just like your natural teeth. Brush and floss as recommend by your dentist or dental hygienist. See your dentist within 6 months or more frequently if advised.
